Ups and Downs of Going Away

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations… Matthew 28:19

Going Away… Missing home

Well, I have been here a month, and although I am totally enjoying it here… I get a little homesick. Mostly on Sundays. I miss my church family, my family, my fiancé, etc. And I don’t feel it for long periods, just in spurts. I am so thankful to have access to today’s communication tools… FaceTime is awesome! I can’t imagine doing this before the computer age…and I have abundant respect for those who served when they had no contact with the families they left behind. I don’t think I would have been able to do it.

Loving Mexico

So…yes, I miss home, but just as affirmative is my love for Mexico. Of course, there are things I have to adjust to… but I enjoy a challenge and change. In light of that, here are a few images of my new home…in progress. It is comfortable (for me anyway… I like warm weather, so it is awesome. I know some of you would probably be a bit too hot without A/C). I have more comforts than I really need, but it is simple and easy to take care of. So, I show you the photos below so you can use your mind’s eye to imagine what I am up to when I am “home”.

The Church in Jesús María

Sunday (March 23) was the first Sunday for the Jesús María congregation to meet in their new location. It was an exciting and emotional day! Please take a look at this article to see how God is working here. It is an exciting time to be a part of His work in this area. Thank you for partnering with me to serve here!

Coming Up

I will be spending most of April in Puebla Mexico at the Spanish Institute to aid in my language learning. It is a three week immersion course, and I will also be living with a Spanish speaking Mexican family while I am there. Please pray for my brain to be sharp and ready to receive a concentrated dose of instruction in Spanish! I know you CAN teach an old dog new tricks, but it is not as easy! Pray Pray Please!

This is my living room. If you have ever been to my Texas home... you know my walls there are yellow too. I figured I would stick with what works. I haven't done any wall accessories yet.

This is my "getting ready" area. Hoping the mirror stays put. Hanging things on concrete walls is not the easiest thing to do.

My closet! I really like this organizer. Tina took me to Home Depot and I went nuts! Most women love to go to the mall. My weekness is Home Depot (and art stores).

Shanti (the dog I am taking care of for my friend Tiffany) is a needy dog. She requires your undivided attention. Georgia is more like me... as long as we are in the same room, she is good to go.
