March News

I just realized that the “New Year’s” greeting/photo only went out by mail! So let me include that here and give everyone the overview of 2011 and a quick update. (Please forgive the absence of Kurt and Natalie in the photo…they were not with us at Christmas when we took the photo.)

First, the “Update”

No, I have not left yet. Because of commitments I made to clients in the political realm, and the changes in the state of Texas’ primary dates, I am still here…honoring those contracts and finishing up their campaigns. I am still working on raising support to go to Ixtapaluca. I hope to leave some time this summer. I must be at 100% of my monthly support before I can leave (so if you have mentioned that you are going to give monthly, please go ahead an solidify your commitment so it will show up on the books…you can wait until I leave to actually start making payments). I have had positive responses of support! I appreciate everyone’s enthusiasm and excitement about my ministry and the work going on in Mexico.

Now, for the 2011 Overview

Time flies! Looking back always reveals how fast the kids grows up. Here is a quick 2011 recap…

Joe:

graduated from First Baptist Academy and finished his first semester at Dallas Baptist University where he is studying broadcast journalism…he has his eyes on the film industry, directing and editing. He is very talented.

He also continues to play guitar and write music. He and Amanda sound great together…when I can actually get them to sing for me. He has a few things on his YouTube feed: CupOfJoeNixon. Here are a couple of direct links to songs: “Come Home Soldier”, “205 Drive”, “Oh Tonight (Cover by Joe & Amanda)”. Or click here to see the videos he has produced.

Amanda:

continues her education as a 3rd year student at Dallas Baptist University. She already has her “dream” job teaching special needs students (Down Syndrome and similar developmental delays) at Green Oaks School in Arlington. What a blessing she is with a beautiful heart for these kids.

Her long-time boyfriend Casey Tapp just proposed to her on the ski slopes in Angel Fire. The date is tentatively set for August 1, 2013…we will keep you updated. So we do know she is finishing school first. And it is exciting to look forward to a wedding!

Natalie & Kurt Corley:

still in Corpus Christi where Kurt is a manager at Rudy’s Barbecue. Natalie fills in at The Pelican on the Island and has a couple of side businesses of her own….All Wrapped Up Baskets and she is a consultant with Thirty-one Gifts.

Jessica:

still preparing for full-time ministry with CAM International (soon to be known as Camino Global) in Ixtapaluca, Mexico. I will be working with a church planting team in creative outreach, evangelism, and discipleship. Please pray as I prepare to leave and raise support. While still here in the states, I continue to work in graphic design and photography as Nixonnotes to keep up with the bills.

Be a part of the ministry!

You can pray, give a one-time monetary gift, and/or commit to monthly financial support. Your financial support will help insure the online ministry will continue.
